Quality Assurance Software Test Automation Intern

CDP has an exciting opportunity available for a Software Test Automation Intern.  We are looking for a creative and analytical individual who can help us reach our goal to transform our manual testing into the world of automation.  In this role you would be responsible for selecting and building an automation framework and producing a working proof of concept based on the requirements outlined by the QA Director.  The ‘right candidate’ for this position must be an out of the box thinker with a strong team mentality and passion for software engineering.   Your primary focus will be on building and implementing automation framework for the Quality Assurance department.  You will have a direct impact on our ability to develop, test, and deliver high quality products to our customers quickly, efficiently and consistently.

The candidate must be hands-on with programming experience, have excellent communication skills, and be execution focused.

This position reports exclusively to the QA Director.

Job Description

  • As a Quality Assurance Software Test Automation Intern you will be responsible for researching, presenting and ultimately suggesting viable solutions for the automation framework that will enable the management team to select the ‘best fit’ for CDP
  • Develop and document automated testing procedures and infrastructure to improve testing efficiency
  • Develop a plan and roadmap to implement a working proof of concept within 6 months of the approval of approved automation strategy and tool
  • Research and implement latest technology trend in test automation methodology
  • Create technical documents, provide training how to use automation framework, and plan for improvement based on user feedback
  • You will work closely with the Quality Assurance Director and other members of the Development and QA team as needed

Required

  • Strong programming skills in scripting languages
  • Working experience with test automation and testing methodologies
  • Must be proactive and a strong team player
  • Ability to multi-task, stay focused and meet deadlines while also being able to change gears quickly when needed
  • Must possess top notch communication skills, all forms
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically to automate what ‘makes sense’ as much as possible

Job Overview

This position is a junior database developer role that actively participates and applies their skills and expertise on an agile team of professionals focused on delivering next generation data analytics to our customers. They will participate in the development of database objects, ETL processes, data validation and Tableau analytics in support of our Data Direct public health data analytics pubic offering. The core technologies used by this project team are SQL Server and the Microsoft BI Stack including Visual Studio, TFS/Azure DevOps, T-SQL, Azure Cloud, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Agent, .NET Core, Tableau Desktop and Server. 

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a team of highly skilled DB and DW professionals.
  • Optimize and maintain current system.
  • Research and correct report bugs and issues.
  • Script out ETL and SSIS jobs to transform data.
  • Import data from external data sources such as JSON, XML, web-services, etc.
  • Provide tier II support to customer support and account management staff and respond to tickets in a timely manner.
  • Create ad-hoc queries against data as requested by end users.
  • Review job history logs and correct any issues and re-run jobs.
  • Unit test and validate data sets match expected results and met business requirements.

 Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a database developer working with SQL Server including SSIS, ETL, Stored Procedures and Object Design.
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills.
  • Ability to understand front-end user requirements.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • BS Degree in Computer Science, relevant field or work history 

Preferred Skills

  • General understanding of business intelligence and data warehousing principles including staging source data, master data management, conformed dimensions, data stewardship and dimensional data models (Start Schema).
  • Expereince with Tableau. 
  • Expereince with web development (.NET Core, ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, CSS, HTML).

Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Description

  • As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and executing both manual and automated test scenarios for various web-based health care systems to ensure that the deliverables meet business requirements and company quality goals. 
  • In this role, you will actively participate in development planning meetings, prepare and execute test scenarios, document results, report deficiencies and track code defects to closure.  

Required:

  • 3-5 years working in a test engineer role
  • Proficient in developing test plans and scenarios
  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio, Azure Devops, Test Manager or similar suite
  • Experience testing web-based applications and web service calls
  • Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Outstanding written, listening, and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding and/or working knowledge of SQL/Oracle databases with the ability to write basic queries
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle, development methodologies and testing techniques
  • Skilled in reviewing technical specifications, business requirements and similar documents to assess required test coverage
  • General technical background, (example: familiar with ‘terms’ such as TCP/IP, FTP, SSL)
  • Firm skill in working with MS Office suite or similar desktop applications
